The Gulch offers a vibrant neighborhood with diverse transportation options including several nearby bus lines and a reasonably good bicycling infrastructure despite hilly terrain. Residents have convenient access to primary and high schools as well as numerous general and specialty grocery stores. Dining options are abundant with around 40 restaurants and several coffee shops providing a variety of culinary experiences. The neighborhood features about 10 bars thoughtfully located for easy social outings. Large apartment buildings dominate the housing landscape, featuring mostly one- and two-bedroom apartments constructed largely after 2000. Nearby neighborhoods provide well-distributed green spaces for outdoor activities close to the area.

The Gulch is a great area for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding dynamic areas in this neighborhood is very easy. Even though the streets are often busy with people, there are few nearby entertainment venues, and with its approximately 20 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Although the neighborhood does not contain any green spaces, parks are especially well-spread out in nearby neighborhoods, making it easy to access them from the majority of locations within the neighborhood.
